The resuils of the assessment of the information and communication literacy of students in the 9th grade of the Republic of Belarus


In May – October 2013, the National Institute of Education of the Republic of Belarus, together with the National Training Foundation of the Russian Federation, conducted an assessment of the information and communication literacy of students in the 9th grade of the Republic of Belarus using the ICL Test tool.

 

The tool received the appreciation from all assessment participants at all stages and levels of its use.

A significant interest in the assessment and its results was took teachers and the administration of schools (directors and deputy directors). After getting acquainted with the content of the assignments (during the assessment), the teachers noted specifics, practical orientation, non-standard form of the assessment itself and the presentation of the material. The teachers considered feedback especially important - each student receivie their own result and recommendations immediately after completing the assessment.

The assessment aroused genuine interest among the students. They took the assessment independently, without being distracted by communication among themselves, which indicates a sufficiently high motivation and attractive form of presentation of assessment items for students.
